Today is the historic inauguration of Barack Obama. It is historical because he is the first African-American to win this office. This is a huge step forward in our country considering some forty years ago this was unheard of. At that time blacks and whites were segregated and the thought of an African-American president would have been laughed at. This is also a historic day considering yesterday was Martin Luther King Day. I understand the importance of today but I feel it is overhyped. Yes this is historic but he hasn't done anything yet. He is being treated like a god even though he has yet to accomplish anything. He currently is being considered one of the best presidents ever That is an outrage because he could fail or he could triumph and deserve the hype he is getting. The only way to find out is by watching him for the next four years. That will determine if he is the great savior that everyone is making him out to be.

There was a time not that long ago where I was forced to keep a secret. The secret was one that I found difficult not to tell anyone like my parents. It forced me to be in a state of sadness and I wasn't the same person that I usually am. It had a great effect on my everyday life. Eventually the secret was revealed and a great weight was lifted off my chest. I do not enjoy keeping great, big, bad secrets in my conscience.

So far The Scarlet Letter is an alright novel. I find myself sort of enjoying the story and wondering what will happen next. Reading this novel I get lost and really want to see what happens next. The characters are well written and are interesting. It is a little overwhelming at times and is difficult to understand. Talking about it in class helps during the difficult times that are hard to comprehend.

My New Year's Resolution is to get better grades in my classes. This is obtainable because for the most part I don't really put forth an effort in terms of studying. I can also start my homework right when I get home from school instead of waiting until after dinner. Also for projects I could not wait the last minute to do them. This is a resolution that I am really going to try hard to achieve.
